Lately, you've probably been hearing a lot about a drop in CD sales as a result of illegal downloading/piracy. Sure, platinum-selling artists aren't affected as drastically by illegal downloading. They've already broken into the mainstream and can find other ways to support themselves, but for our artists and other independent artists out there, every sale counts. One Eleven Records is concerned with the music industry's future and we want to do something about it. We want to be upfront with you! If you are a fan of any of our artists, then listen up! We'd like to take this opportunity to explain to you a little bit about how the music industry currently works and potentially give you a few good reasons to buy a CD. If you're convinced, we'll help you find those CDs. Sound good? OK, here we go...

The industry believes that CD sales accurately reflect the level of interest in an artist.

What does that mean for an artist?

It means that promoters (people who put on shows), booking agents (people who plan and book tours), venues, managers, sponsors and plenty of other important insiders pay attention to CD sales as the most important attribute when considering working with a band. CD sales are more important to these professionals than myspace friends, mp3 downloads or even fans at their shows. Until a band sells a lot of CDs, they may have trouble landing that big tour or even making money at live shows. They won't be considered for any endorsements or cross-promotional sponsorships. They won't get the exposure they'll need, regardless of how great their music is.

What does that mean for you?

Have you ever wondered why an artist won't come to your town for a live show? Have you ever been sad about your favorite band breaking up? Us, too! These are the two biggest problems that poor CD sales can cause. If an artist can't get on big tours because they haven't sold enough CDs, chances are, you won't see them. If a band can't sell enough merchandise or make enough money from live shows, they may not be able to afford to be professional musicians. Sometimes, not having any money can be a huge factor about whether young, independent artists are able to continue in music. CD sales directly impact the artists you love on an indie level.

Indie labels like One Eleven don't have piles of money sitting around.

The money we make from CD sales is directed right back into our artists.

In addition to paying for our artists to record the music that you love, manufacture CDs and ship them to stores near you, we do our best to financially support our bands. Every dollar we make from CD sales goes to supporting our staff, marketing our artists, making videos and artwork, supporting them on tour so they can come to your town, among a lot of other things that artists typically are not able to do on their own. We are happy to do this. We want to see our artists continue to grow. Without an influx of income from CD sales, however, we will be unable to bring you new artists, new content, new live shows and plenty of other great stuff that we have planned for the coming years.

In sum, we believe in our artists and our label. We believe in putting out great music and following it up with more great music. The money you spend on CDs goes directly to helping artists you love and ensures that they'll be around to play for you in the future. The burden is on you to keep them going!

Hopefully, you're excited about supporting the artists you love by buying their CDs.

Our CDs are available from a variety of outlets, featured on the left of this page.

If you've ever had a problem finding our CD, we want you to help us get them to your favorite store. Retail stores like Best Buy don't always know about bands like The Spill Canvas and Rookie of the Year. It takes people like you to open their eyes! By far, the best way to get our CDs to your favorite store is to let them know that One Eleven Records has a great product and you'd like to see it on their shelves! You can usually order a CD through a store, even if they don't carry it. You might even want to talk to the store manager about our label and let them know that we're excited to bring them new music all the time!

On behalf of our artists, we would like to thank you for taking the time to read this article. We trust that you will use the information wisely. Love,
